Babe, I don’t have the time to fight this war you start in my mind And, babe, I don’t want to go away but I know that I can’t stay if you treat me this way Well, the clock strikes one And I’m pissed drunk I want to call, but I know I’ll fall Back into your arms Where I feel most calm But you’ll fuck it up like you’ve always done And I will cry And you’ll feel real bad And we’ll be right back to where we fucking started Baby, I saw you the other day And I never thought I’d feel this way But I am finally done Well, the clock strikes one And I’m pissed drunk I want to call, but I know I’ll fall Back into your arms Where I feel most calm But you’ll fuck it up like you’ve always done And i will cry And you’ll feel real bad And we’ll be right back to where we fucking started So, I want some new company I want some new company Yeah, I want some new company I want new company I want new company Babe, when did it get so hard to break you When did it get so hard to make you come over Babe, when did it get so hard to break you When did it get so hard to make you Well, the clock strikes one And I’m pissed drunk I want to call, but I know I’ll fall Back into your arms Where I feel most calm But you’ll fuck it up like you’ve always done And i will cry And you’ll feel real bad And we’ll be right back to where we fucking started

You had no right to do what you did to her did you? I wonder did taking what you took from her take you? We see you running round like an ignorant child Does it not weigh on your mind Does she never say why’d you do it this time Well she’s thinking it now that promise is mine Does she never say fuck just read the signs maybe she does but you pretend you’re blind This drink is made for men in bars This town is ruled by men in fancy cars Her dreams are big but don’t go far In her dreams, you sit quietly and applaud Well we know what you do, what you say, who you praise But you don’t even know her last name but you take her moment It’s a shame, such a brain, gone to waste, write it Into a song, you knew it was wrong, she was playing along This drink is made for men in bars This town is ruled by men in fancy cars Her dreams are big but don’t go far In her dreams, you sit quietly and applaud So you talk this big game You follow god, but do you not feel shame Do your daughters deserve the same Should they be chased off stage Should they be called those names Should they run the other way When they see your face, do they deserve the same This drink is made for men in bars This town is ruled by men in fancy cars Her dreams are big but don’t go far In her dreams, you sit quietly and applaud sit quietly and applaud

about

Sam Casey wrote and first recorded the title song in her dorm room during her first year at university. She was lonely, homesick, and without the equipment she needed to record a real version of the song. However, she was so desperate to hear her feelings out loud (and probably make this person feel guilty about not loving her!) that she voice-recorded the lyrics onto her iPhone. She used the GarageBand software on her laptop to release a very dingy, and now that she looks back on it, quite embarrassing rendition of New Company on Soundcloud. Sam says that Graham Stairs of Popguru Sound & Vision was able to see a rose hidden in the massive thorn bushes of immaturity and lack of production skills. So, here we are, with not only one amazing version of New Company, but FOUR awesome remixes as well! Plus, the deep cut, Men In Bars.

about

Sam Casey Toronto, Ontario

When Sam Casey was fifteen old, there were a bunch of guys that she didn’t know hesitating at the top of a high rock face overlooking the lake near her cottage. Already a force of nature, she climbed up there, walked right past them and just jumped. It was probably a fifty feet drop. “As a young female artist, I believe that many people expect certain social norms from me that I disagree with.” ... more
